Congratulations! You have reached the point where you have liquid assets to invest. The question is where is the best place?


As a former stockbroker with a Series 7 and Series 63 license I am very familiar with the stock market and the “ups and downs” so to speak. In addition, I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Finance from the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana, Il  and have done extensive financial analysis for clients on various investments including traditional bank c.d.’s, bonds, Reits, mutual funds, etc. What I learned, in summary, is that real estate is still the best investment, in my opinion.


REIT’s or Real Estate Investment Trusts are not what I am referring too. While there can be some benefits the major non benefit is you have no control. Wouldn’t it be better to have control and invest somewhere closer to home where you can actually “see where your money is”? To invest in your local community. To get a great return…and did you know you can also invest IRA money directly into real estate and get a loan from a bank to increase what you are buying?


In addition, let’s talk about interest rates…what are the banks paying? Little to nothing. How do bonds work? When interest rates go up, bonds go down. Rates have been low for a very long time. They will go up and then what happens to your investment? The stock market? Unpredictable as we all know from past history. There are many other types of investments and it IS good to have diversification but why not add real estate YOU can control and see to your portfolio? What is the negative?


Some negatives are, real estate can also go down but generally land never loses value. Where is real estate now? Low! Where will it most likely go? Where are interest rates now? Low! Where will they most likely go? We know the answers to these questions so why wait is my question….
